Altenberg (dpa) - With a track record of 57.77 seconds in the last run, skeleton pilot Tina Hermann defended her world title at the World Championships in Altenberg.
On Saturday, the 27-year-old from WSV Königssee made up the large gap of 66 hundredths of a second to the leading Marina Gilardoni from Switzerland and secured her third World Cup triumph in 3: 54.62 minutes. Gilardoni had to settle for silver with a gap of 0.22 seconds, bronze won Janine Flock from Austria (1.21 seconds back).
World Cup overall winner Jacqueline Lölling from RSG Hochsauerland finished fourth after four races (1.39 seconds back), while Sophia Griebel (1.87) finished sixth.
