The Wanderers are back in the national ice hockey league. After two victories (3: 2 and 7: 5) against rain that can hardly be surpassed in tension, 500 Germeringen fans celebrated the climb together with the team in the Polariom on Sunday evening yesterday.

Germering - With 19 victorious season games, the Germering went into the decisive second semi-final. After the 3-2 success on Friday, the promotion shirts were already prepared. But rain had almost thwarted the Wanderers' celebrations. Because the guests turned out to be worthy opponents and gave the big favorites a fight on bending and breaking on Sunday.

The Wanderers got really into trouble for the first time this season. With 1: 3, 2: 4 and 4: 5, they were already behind. But Captain Quirin Reichel and his colleagues showed morale and celebrated a 7: 5 (1: 3, 2: 1, 4: 1) victory in a true promotion thriller. The game started very badly for the home side. Reichel was able to compensate for the quick 0-1 deficit almost in return. But then apparently nervousness crept into the Wanderers.

Inexplicable technical mistakes made it easy for the guests to start the first break with a two-goal lead.

In the break cabin, Reichel swore in his team again. From then on, a thriller developed that Hitchcock could not have produced more exciting. One penalty each and three hits in just three minutes - two of them for the Wanderers by Marcus Mooseder and again Reichel - made sure that they rolled over. But it should get even better.

Exactly 30 seconds were played in the last round when Konstantin Kolb equalized for Germering for the first time. The Wanderers could not be stopped by a new deficit. Nico Rossi and Matthias Götz finally turned the game. But she was only decided a few seconds before the end. Rain had taken the goalkeeper off the ice for another outfield player. But the Wanderers conquered the puck and Reichel was reserved to push the disk into the net to the celebrated final result.

Already on Friday in Passau - the stadium in Regen was occupied by the World Curling Championship - the Wanderers had made it exciting. Marco Berger, Mooseder and JC Cangelosi had ensured a 3-0 lead. But the Germeringer did not disclose the second third. Rain struggled to 2: 3, but the Wanderers saved the victory over time and thus prepared the field for the ascent, which is not the end of the season for Germering. Now the final for the district league championship is still pending. The big goal of ascent has been achieved. "But if you are in the final, you also want to be a champion," said Wanderers Vice President Albert Bittl.
