2020-03-02T18:30:33.965Z

Beaten for the first time this season at Watford (3-0), Liverpool can end the season with less pressure.

After losing their invincibility this Saturday at Watford (3-0) after 27 days of Premier League, the Reds of Jurgen Klopp can approach a quieter end of the season and less focused on the Championship. Ending the season without losing, as Arsenal did in 2004 (44 games unbeaten), seemed to be Liverpool's number one goal this season. But after this defeat, the German technician from Liverpool seems to have new goals and wants to remain positive.

Phew ...

"A lot of people will say they saw it coming, not me. Congratulations to them. Tonight (Saturday), we just weren't good enough. [...] We did not expect to win as many matches (26 out of 28 now). It has never been easy and it will never be easy, but now we must continue. [...] We do not think that it is the greatest catastrophe of world football. [...] I see this rather positively because from now on, we will be able to play liberated football again ", explained Klopp after the defeat.

Liverpool with their typical team at Chelsea

With 22 points ahead of its dolphin Manchester City ten days from the end of the season, Liverpool should be logically crowned champion in the coming weeks. The setback suffered at Watford should allow the Reds to keep their feet on the ground before a major confrontation at Chelsea, in the context of the knockout stages of the FA Cup. “It is a difficult defeat to swallow. (...) We will have to improve and we will do it, ”explained captain Virgil Van Dijk.

Against the Blues, Jurgen Klopp has also hinted that he could align his typical team in London. : "It will not be the team that played against Shrewsbury. It's certain. There will be boys on the team, but if they start, we'll see. These are the knockout stages of the FA Cup and we want to move on (…) The defeat has nothing to do with the composition of Tuesday evening ”. As a reminder, the under-22s had competed in the previous Cup round at Shrewsbury (D3).

Still involved in the Cup and the Champions League, Liverpool can still keep its European trophy and achieve a historic hat-trick in its history (Championship, National Cup and Champions League). A goal that could motivate Klopp's troops, especially since this performance was only achieved by the eternal rival of the Reds in England in 1999: Manchester United.
