With a defeat against the Eisbären Regensburg, EC Peiting says goodbye to the ice hockey Oberliga Süd. The play-offs start on Friday.
Peiting - The sixth place in the table for EC Peiting was already fixed before the last point game of the season. Peiting's opponent Regensburg played in the remote duel with Memmingen for the championship in the ice hockey upper league south. The "polar bears" won 5: 2 in Peiting. Since Memmingen lost 2: 3 against Füssen at the same time, Regensburg rose to succeed Peiting as South Champion.
From the start there is fire in the game on Sunday evening, which takes place without Peiting's top scorer Nardo Nagtzaam. Anton Saal has the first chance (2nd). The Peitingen attacker fails in one-on-one against Regensburg's goalkeeper Patrick Berger. On the other hand, Nikola Gajovsky (3rd) does better. He brings the "polar bears" in the lead after a fine individual performance. Shortly afterwards Florian Hechenrieder prevented the next Regensburg goal in the ECP goal against Peter Flache. For a moment, tension flares up again
The second third of the game begins like the first with a missed room chance. The game is now more balanced, but also more fluid than in the first round. Sebastian Buchwieser's team is outnumbered several times, but defends these situations with skill. With one player less on the field, the connecting goal is even successful. Saal intercepts a pass from the Regensburg, goes a few meters and hits the 1: 2 (30th). Shortly afterwards, Peiting outnumbered, but missed balancing. Instead, the guests get the upper hand again. Korbinian Schütz puts 3: 1 for the "polar bears" (35.). The people of Regensburg now remain cold-eyed in the conclusion. Constantin Ontl increased to 1: 4 (38th). With a petrified expression, the Peitinger disappear into the cabin for the second break of the third.
Early in the last section of the game, Regensburg's Lukas Heger had to leave the ice for two minutes due to a handicap. If the EC Peiting wants to raise tension again, a hit is now needed. The Peitinger also know that and they deliver. Morris serves Saal, who pushes the puck into the goal for 2: 4 (43rd). But the tension doesn't last long. The "polar bears" then use their sixth overpayment game to score a goal. Gajovsky plays the puck in front of goal, Flache deflects it to 5: 2 (47th). The game is decided. Once Peiting is still in the majority. But the Peitinger do not manage to narrow the result somewhat. So it remains at the final siren at 2: 5.
Martin Mazanec extends EC Peiting
But there was still good news: The EC Peiting announced that Martin Mazanec has extended by one year.
Last Friday the Peitinger had to surrender to the Blue Devils pastures.
