Martin Fourcade has ended after more than twelve years. The Frenchman will end his career after Saturday's pursuit race in Kontiolahti, Finland.
The 31-year-old announced this on the fringes of the Biathlon World Cup in Kontiolahti on social media. "It is time to say goodbye to biathlon. Thank you everyone for incredible moments on this incredible journey," Fourcade concluded in a long statement reflecting on his career and experiences.

Fourcade made its World Cup debut in 2008 and became one of the most successful biathletes of all time. Between 2011 and 2018 he won the overall World Cup seven times in a row, unique in the history of biathlon.
At World Championships Fourcade won 13 titles, won ten silver medals and five bronze medals. Fourcade became Olympic champion five times, winning gold in the Pyeongchang Games in the pursuit, mass start and mixed relay. Fourcade also won two silver medals.
