As one of the last associations, the BFV also stopped playing - initially for ten days. This is what the soccer coaches from Würmtal say:

Würmtal - The Bavarian Football Association (BFV) has followed suit after almost all other sports in Bavaria have been put on hold for the time being or permanently for the season. On Friday morning, those responsible for the BFV held a crisis session due to the rampant corona virus and decided to stop playing at least until Monday, March 23.

The association expressly does not rule out an extension of the measure or even an early end of the season. In addition, the BFV advises its approximately 4,600 clubs to also stop training.

Munich-based Merkur spoke to the main coaches of the Würmtal soccer teams about this decision and possible consequences. Below are the opinions and exemplary answers from the interviews - broken down by questions:

Is the BFV's decision correct?

Throughout the bank, the Würmtaler football coaches agree: the BFV made the right decision by suspending the game. "Everyone's health comes first," says Bernd Gegenfurtner from TSV Graefelfing. Michael Lelleck, coach of SV Planegg-Krailling, is “full of it”.

His colleague from Gautinger SC, Uwe Lehner, goes even further: “Everything else is now more important, football has to accept that.” Planegg's reserve coach Andreas Budell sees it similarly: “We are in an exceptional situation, so sport has to do it stand in the back. "

Critical tones only come at the point in time. Maximilian Reid from TSV Neuried, for example, would have preferred an earlier measure by the BFV, but is glad that "reason has finally prevailed and a uniform solution has been found for all leagues". The new TSV Pentenried coach, Franz Möhwald, puts it more drastically: “The BFV reacted far too late. Selfishness has to be put back now, you have to think about the people around you. ”

Are the teams now stopping their training?

The Würmtaler clubs all follow the advice of the association and do without their team training until further notice. Here and there the soccer players keep fit otherwise. "We gave the players individual training plans," Neurieds Reid said. In Graefelfing, the first team meets irregularly privately for running training followed by dinner - as long as restaurants are still open.

Almost all clubs even completely shut down club sports operations, following the example of TSV Graefelfing, which closed its facility a week ago.

How should things continue from March 24?

The BFV seems to have three options on March 24: restarting the game, extending the break or completely abandoning the season. Only a few Würmtaler trainers dare to make a forecast. Pentenrieds Möhwald expects the season to end prematurely and speaks of a “chaos year for football”.

Thomas Ochsenkühn, trainer of the Gräfelfinger Reserve, also assumes "that operations will be stopped - and that would be correct". The Korbinian Halmich sees it differently. The TV Stockdorf trainer thinks this is possible, but speaks of the worst scenario, the "worst case".

Most Würmtaler trainers hope that the season can continue in a few weeks - as long as the coronavirus situation has calmed down by then. "But you can't delay it longer than a month," says Tobias Rehse from the Neurieder Reserve. Otherwise there would be no time to catch up on the failed games.

How is the season judged when it is canceled?

Almost all Würmtal coaches are of the opinion that the season should simply not be judged if it ends prematurely. Then there should not be promoted and relegated. "A rating of the table at the moment would be distortion of competition - even if it is bitter for us," says Halmich von Ascension candidate Stockdorf.

DJK Würmtal, as the current table leader, would also be one of the teams that would hit the annulment of the season results hard. Therefore, coach Mario Germek hopes "that the standings of the first round will be taken".

Neurieds Reid, who could imagine play-off games by the top teams for promotion and the bottom against relegation, advocates a more exotic variant. "That would have something. And other sports have shown that it can be done. ”

However the association decides, "you can't please everyone," says Planeggs Lelleck. He is in line with all of his colleagues.
