For a long time it was quiet about the EC Peiting. Shortly before the transfer stop, the Oberligist announced the departure of six players.

Peiting - While the other clubs in the Ice Hockey Oberliga-Süd have already cheerfully announced additions and withdrawals, it was long quiet at EC Peiting. The managers in Peiting are known to handle the transfer period with prudence. Since the season had ended prematurely due to the corona pandemic, this had started earlier than usual. Brad Miller has played for the ECP since 2015. The American was elected "Defender of the Year" several times in the Oberliga Süd. Last season, however, the 34-year-old had to deal with a protracted injury and only played seven games. "A defender who scores so many points is rare," says team manager Gordon Borberg, praising the American.

Florian Stauder became German Champion with Peiting

With Florian Stauder , another well-known face is leaving EC Peiting. The 28-year-old has been in the club since 2009. In 2011 he won the German championship title with Peiting in the U20. In the past season, the striker came in 46 appearances to 38 scorer points (23 goals / 15 assists).

Wayne Lucas played far fewer games for the ECP. The 24-year-old German with American roots changed from Sonthofen to Peiting in the middle of the 2018/19 season. The defender was in the squad only 13 times last season. He tore his cruciate ligament in November and has been out since then.

For Maxi Schäffler, the ECP ends after only one season

Last season Maximilian Schäffler was one of only four Peitingers on the ice in all 50 games of the main and master rounds. After just one season, the 27-year-old, who came from Kaufbeuren, is back in Peiting. The all-rounder scored five goals and 15 assists in the ECP jersey. "He gave everything and put himself at the service of the team," coach Sebastian Buchwieser had said of the season's conclusion about him.

Liam Hätinen's time in Peiting also ends after just one season. The 20-year-old perspective player came from the Ingolstadt offspring and, according to Buchwieser, has made a giant step forward.

First division clubs agree on transfer stop

In the end of the season and in response to the many injuries, the Peitinger had signed the defender Thomas Schmid from Deggendorfer SC. He leaves Peiting after only 14 games in which he succeeded.

With this, the EC Peiting clarified before the clubs of the Oberliga Süd agreed on a transfer stop. That had happened last week in the Oberliga Nord. According to the agreement, no contractual talks and no player transfers are to be made until April 30. All transfers that have already been made are exempt from the rule. The clubs are reacting to the effects of the corona virus.
