Berlin (dpa) - DFB director Oliver Bierhoff believes in a longer-lasting solidarity effect in professional football even after the end of the Corona crisis.
"I think that in football it becomes even clearer that the most important thing is the game. That it takes place, that we enjoy that the beautiful things in the game are transported again and again," said the 51-year-old RTL / ntv- Editorial staff. Self-interest that has arisen from strong commerce and a high level of publicity in the past few years could decrease. Possibly it is said more often: "We are in a crisis, we have to stick together," said Bierhoff.
He currently feels reminded of his time as a professional in Italy. "Of course the prices will go down, as will the salaries. I've seen something similar in Italy. When I came in 1991, the economy was booming. There was enough money everywhere and it was spent. And at some point the manipulations came, and suddenly, too Black money was uncovered at small associations. The economy collapsed, there were many scandals. And there was an adjustment for associations with salaries of 50 percent. And that worked, "said Bierhoff.
