Munich - No games, no TV money, no audience revenue. This is what the bitter Corona reality currently looks like for the Bundesliga clubs. After ghost games * there are now no games at all. Not every club has a famous time deposit account like FC Bayern * , some clubs struggle for financial survival. Repayments are even in danger, for instance for season ticket holders, and the millions of donations from the top clubs may not offer enough air to all clubs.
The lavish contracts of players and coaches, who can currently do nothing for the club, save potential except to keep fit at home. But short-time work is not a real option for the superstars of the league at the ceiling of 6,890 euros, as the ARD reports. The highest paid kickers earn about four times a day.
Coronavirus: Many Bundesliga clubs make do with short-time work
With the many other club employees, short-time work is definitely an opportunity for the clubs to reduce costs. The Federal Employment Agency paid part of the salaries here.
The ARD sports show sent a questionnaire to the clubs on the subject of "short-time work and waiver of wages", to which all but eight clubs answered. However, FC Bayern have already announced that Munich's "stars and managers" will forego "20 percent of their salaries" . BVB also let it be known that "players, managers and coaches waived" significant portions of their salaries ".
Bayer Leverkusen does not want this discussion to be present in the media: “We believe that the issue of salary waiver should not be stylized as a media competition, but rather reflects a personal attitude and should be treated accordingly. You cannot 'impose' an attitude on anyone, ”says the ARD association.
