Hapoel owners Alona Barkat officially announced her departure yesterday.

According to the club's announcement, the players will receive their full salary until the end of the current season, but starting next season the SC is going into a period of economic uncertainty.

"This is a sad day for me. I have done my best to formulate a consensual emergency plan to save the club, but the players' unwillingness to join the program leaves me no other option," Barkat said in a statement, adding: "I sincerely thank the club, fans, coaches and players for the wonderful And wish the club success down the road. Rubik didn't help either

To understand what caused Barkat to take such an extreme step, one has to go backstage to the story. Last week, the owner invited the team players to a call at her house. In the days leading up to the call, Barkat drafted a recovery plan together with CEO Asi Rahamim, VP Ido Bar Natan, CFO Nir Katz and other parties.

The meeting featured the senior players at the club. Ben Bitton, Ben Shahar, Marwan Kabha, Louis Taha and Miguel Vittor. In a conversation, Barkat opened with the numbers to the players, including expected revenue and losses next season, with the intention of understanding the situation.

The rock of contention was immediately revealed: Barkat presented a 15-month plan and a 30 percent pay cut, while the players agreed to the cut only until the end of the season. Barkat was convinced that, despite the difficult negotiations, a summary would eventually be reached, but this was not the case.

The players understood that there was no agreement, and whatsaps were being consulted in the Wetsap group. Here, a proposal was made to contact a lawyer who represented everyone as one person. The Portuguese liaison Joshua refused and preferred that his agent handle the matter.

Nonetheless, the actors appointed Attorney Roy Rosen as their force and insisted that he be the one to conduct the negotiations for them. Barkat was very hurt by the move and saw this as a personal injury. "I invite you home and you want me to work with an attorney?" She wondered, and it seemed there was the decision to leave the club. In recent days, Barkat consulted with those close to her and decided to leave.

One of the first to hear about the decision was BSC Mayor Rubik Danilovich, who tried to get her back, but in vain. In the state of the Israeli economy, the parties immediately realized that no businessman would come and take a club with huge financial obligations.

Here it was decided to transfer the club to the attorney who will serve as trustee. The man selected for the task is Adv. Yitzhak Younger, who was previously responsible for dismantling groups such as Hapoel Haifa and Hapoel Petah Tikva.

Uncertainty about the future

Adv. Yitzhak Younger will receive all the players' contracts and formulate a plan in the coming days. It is inevitable that Younger will decide to immediately remove all the players from the team. Younger made it clear that he would have to study the legal issues in a healthy, stable club that did not reach insolvency. At the same time, if Younger makes a decision on an ISA spend, the players are expected to go to court and claim all their contracts.

It is important to note that here, too, according to legal sources consulted with the club, the term "force majeure" comes in, as the outbreak of the Corona virus is not a common practice.

In any case, next season at Shaw will be managed by Attorney Younger and the future of the club's professional and managerial staff is unclear. One thing is certain: the club from the Negev capital will run solely from funds that will go into its coffers. Some players, especially those with high salaries, may receive a release notice. If the trustee finds that this is a large budget deficit, there will be no choice but to move it to liquidation, although at the moment the chances are not high.
