After revealing that he had coronavirus several days ago, Pepe Reina confided in the ordeal that he endured in an interview with Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday. Unlike several athletes affected by the Covid-19, the guardian of Aston Villa, on loan from AC Milan, was not affected by an asymptomatic form of the virus. According to him, he lived "the worst moments" of his life.

“I was very tired after experiencing the first symptoms of the virus: a fever, a dry cough and a headache that never left me. I had this constant feeling of fatigue, ”says Pepe Reina. But it was only the beginning of the ordeal ...
“The most difficult moment was when I couldn't breathe, the 25 minutes when I ran out of oxygen. I was really scared when I realized that I was out of air: it was endless minutes, as if suddenly my throat had closed, "said the 37-year-old. After half an hour of anxiety and more than a week of isolation and treatment, the Spanish porter is on the road to recovery: "Today I am winning the battle against disease", he confides in the Italian media.
