Plot changes. Attorney Yitzhak Younger announced Wednesday to Hapoel players that he is sending them to the USSR. The trustee appointed Alona Barkat conveyed the message to the lawyer of the actors Roy Rosen.
Adv. Younger's decision was followed by the players' refusal to include June in a cut that was agreed upon until the end of the season. For the players, the agreement is only for the months of April / May, so Younger issued an immediate announcement.
In a letter sent by the trustee to the players, it was made clear that they could still register on the Social Security website so that their rights in this matter would not be violated.
At the same time, players are expected to lose about 70 percent of their wages by the end of the season when, as I recall, Alona Barkat's suggestion before the parties split was to cut 30 percent of contracts for a 15-month period. Now, players seem to be hurting financially more significantly.
"Force majeure" will play a major role
This means that their contracts may be canceled at the end of the season. This is a complex legal issue, under a section called "force majeure". On the face of it, the employer, in this case operating in the US, may have a claim that the expenditure on the ISA is due to an unrelated force, which is actually the reality today in the world since the Corona virus erupted.
On the other hand, the players could argue otherwise, whatever the negotiations between them and the club was about to cut their wages. At the same time, players who find another team to take their contracts can do so easily, since on the face of it after leaving the USSR they can do so by law.
