It was written on the wall but today (Wednesday) the official announcement was received that the Wimbledon Tournament was canceled. The tournament held in July in London, the capital of England, is considered one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world, but in light of the spread of the Corona virus, the captains of the industry made the painful decision.
This is the first time since 1945 that the prestigious tournament will not be held on time, when the cancellation resulted from World War I.
The official announcement on the tournament website reads: "Our priority was the health and safety of everyone who comes together to make Wimbledon happen - the UK public and visitors from around the world, our players, guests, friends, staff, volunteers, partners, contractors, local residents"
