The long-distance runner from Unterschwillach is planning her first marathon this year. Now there was a break.

Unterschwillach– The year 2020 should be another milestone for Marina Rappold. More specifically, there are supposed to be more than 26 of them, because a marathon has so many miles (or 42.195 km). The Unterschwillacher wants to run her first in autumn. First of all, the corona virus also mixed up their plans.

Together with her friend, handball player Maximilian Janussek from SV Anzing, she was on the road in Vietnam. “We then had to cancel our vacation early,” says the 22-year-old. "I'm glad I made it home."

And now? "The last two weeks of March were completely off for a while, reports the long-distance runner." Really complete, nothing? "I trained the 18 months before. So it was time to put the body still, ”said Rappold. She also discussed that with Markus Guetzlaff. Since 2012 he has been training the multiple winner of the Erdinger Stadtlauf and German U 23 champion over 10,000 meters.

In April she will start slowly with the basic training again. “These are exclusively aerobic units, i.e. endurance runs over ten or twelve kilometers. On Sunday it will be maybe 20 kilometers, ”explains Rappold and adds,“ but there will be no interval training on the track yet ”.

The student (primary school teacher) only starts in July. Because the first marathon of her life is only postponed. In October - if Corona allows until then - she is registered for the marathon in Budapest. Paris would also be possible because the run planned for April has now been postponed to October. Rappold is still considering, but Budapest seems to have the better cards. “My friend comes from Hungary. That is why we are often there. I think it's very nice to make my marathon debut in this city. I love Budapest. "
