Munich - It was the hottest flirt of the transfer summer 2019: FC Bayern * and Leroy Sané * (24) had kind of fallen in love with each other. A change of the wing racer from Manchester City * to Munich actually seemed to be happening. But then came the fateful August 4th: Ex-Bayern coach Pep Guardiola ordered Sané in the English Supercup against Liverpool FC - and it came as it had to be. The German international seriously injured his right knee, later a cruciate ligament tear was diagnosed. The move to Munich was off the table - possibly forever, as is becoming increasingly evident today.
FC Bayern are now plagued by doubts as to whether Sané is really the right man for the red future . In addition for the proud price that the ex-Schalke will still cost after the Corona crisis. Already in January it was said from the top floor of the German record champions that a transfer from Sané would be very difficult in the coming summer - and that, despite the fact that Bayer Leverkusen had already distanced itself from Kai Havertz's obligation at the time .
Sané and FC Bayern: Club registers lively change of consultant
At this point in time, however, the FCB managers had registered the lively change of consultant Sanés and drawn their conclusions from it. The new board member Oliver Kahn recently explained in Sport Bild : "In order to play a major role at FC Bayern, both the athletic skills and the character, mental aspects must be well developed." These words and the rethinking of the Sané personnel suggest that the German international failed the Munich character test described by Kahn.
The Bayern bosses also heard that after Sané's agent swap, the interest of numerous other top European clubs was suddenly spread. This caused astonishment in Munich because the player would have long been wearing the Bayern jersey without his cruciate ligament injury. Means: The decisive financial framework conditions such as transfer and salary had already been largely clarified . At the beginning of the year, however, negotiations for the new consultants started from scratch - and suddenly the two parties moved away from each other.
Another quality demanded by Kahn is perseverance - this is also not particularly pronounced at Sané. Ultimately, it was nothing more than a hot flirt.
