Munich (dpa) - According to a media report, FC Bayern is considering promoting Miroslav Klose to assistant to head coach Hansi Flick among the professionals.
The former international is currently coaching the U17 team of the German soccer champions, but his contract with the youth team will expire in the summer. As the "Bild" newspaper reported, the 41-year-old is a promising candidate for the job in the first team. For Klose, this is a "serious option," it said. A decision had not yet been made.
Flick, whose contract as head coach in Munich will be extended until June 30, 2023, and Klose know each other from their time together with the national team. In 2014, the World Cup record goal scorer and the assistant to national coach Joachim Löw became world champions. The 55-year-old Flick had already said in an interview in March that Klose was "always an issue" in his Bayern considerations.
