Pure relief for the basketball players of TSV Jahn Freising: The team remains in the Bayern League despite the last place in the table.

Freising - Now the TSV Jahn Freising basketball team is clear about what will happen after the season ends prematurely: the Bavarian Basketball Association (BBV) decided on promotion and relegation procedures at the end of last week. When the game was abandoned, the Domstädter were in last place in the Bayernliga Mitte. Now the happy news: The Jahn team remains in the Bayernliga and will play in the Süd group next season.

"We were naturally very happy about the news that we could stay in the Bayernliga," said Jahn head of department and head coach Michael Buhl. "When the players found out, everyone celebrated right away."

Trembling for the Jahn basket hunters ended

The Freising basket hunters have had to tremble in the past few weeks. Due to the Corona crisis, the basketball association had initially interrupted the game and left open whether the rest of the season would be made up for at some point. However, it soon became clear that the round was finally over. At the time, the Jahn basketball players were in the last table position in the Bayernliga Mitte and therefore had to reckon with the fact that this could mean relegation - even if, theoretically, they could have relegated to the league in the remaining matches.

Michael Buhl remained calm at the time: one had to accept relegation, since after a messed up season with only two wins from 19 games, it was your own fault that you were at the bottom of the table, he said. Of course there was hope that the BBV would decide otherwise. "And that was actually the case now," cheered Buhl.

TSV Jahn Freising will play in the Süd group in the future

The Freisinger will play in the Bayernliga Süd in the future. "That's okay," emphasizes Buhl. “Then we meet some Munich teams. The trips to the away games are not quite as far as in the Bayernliga Mitte. ”Because of the exceptional situation, the association has increased the group south from twelve to 13 in the future. This may also mean that several teams then have to relegate.

Nevertheless, there is now certainty that once the corona crisis has been overcome and all halls reopened, the Jahn basketball players can prepare for the new Bayernliga round and lay the foundation for a more successful round.
