Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Nicklas Dietrich, the athletics coach of the DFB national team, is excited about football after the Corona crisis.
"Football will basically be the same. But it is clear that we have all never experienced such a situation," said the 37-year-old sports scientist in an interview with the German Press Agency. "Football is multifactorial. This means that so many parameters are included, not just fitness, but also the game philosophy, the individual class, the susceptibility to injury, the group dynamics. It will be exciting to watch this process."
The national team are all very professional and well looked after by their clubs, said the DFB coach in the team of national coach Joachim Löw. "It is certainly sometimes difficult to focus during this uncertainty, but everyone is aware that a tough program is waiting as soon as it starts again," said Dietrich about the forced break in the Bundesliga and in the other top European leagues.
After practice sessions in small groups are once again possible in German professional football, the focus is not on the basic training structure. "The training must prepare for certain possible scenarios, for example the fact that there can be several English weeks. This level must be maintained," said the former athletics coach from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig.
