Hansi Flick and the future at Bayern: decision on Coutinho and Martinez has already been made

FC Bayern has decided: Hansi Flick (55) has been contracted until 2023 - and with it the coach who will lead the Munich team into a new era. If Flick fulfills his contract, neither Uli Hoeneß nor Karl-Heinz Rummenigge will hold a chief position. Together with the designated sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn, the chairman of the board, Flick will lead FC Bayern into a new era.

FC Bayern: What influence does Flick have on personnel decisions?

Timo Werner (24) & Leroy Sané (24): In the course of his contract extension, Hansi Flick has had a say in transfers. And the head coach could have a weighty say in the summer when deciding whether Werner or Sané should come. Flick is considered a big fan of the Leipzig, already indicated that he could imagine a formation with Werner and Robert Lewandowski. If it were up to the coach alone, the decision would have already been made.

FC Bayern: We continue with Neuer, Müller & Co.?

Manuel Neuer (34): The goalkeeper has a contract until 2021, negotiations are ongoing - an agreement is pending. The FCB apparently only wants to extend until 2023, Neuer, however, should request a contract until 2025. Flick is fully behind Neuer, most recently said in Sport Bild: “We have a clear hierarchy with the goalkeepers. It will be the same next year. ”Newcomer Alexander Nübel (Schalke) will not change that.

Thomas Müller (30): Flick predecessor Niko Kovac publicly demoted the offensive player to an emergency nail in autumn 2019. Seven months later, the world looks very different. The 30-year-old is once again part of the regular staff under Flick - and delivers: Müller scored six goals in 15 league games after Kovac and prepared an incredible twelve goals. The original Bavarian should extend shortly.

David Alaba (27) & Thiago (28): The two have been top performers since Flick's promotion. Alaba was converted into a central defender, Thiago even convinced as a goal scorer. FCB wants to keep the duo - Flick will insist on that too.

FC Bayern: two wobbly candidates on the defensive

Jerome Boateng (31) & Javi Martinez (31): The defensive players (contract until 2021) are among the shaky candidates. The first one flourished under Flick, but always misfires away from the lawn - just like the illegal trip to his son with an accident. The competition is tough when Niklas Süle and Lucas Hernández are fit. Martinez has to line up behind Joshua Kimmich and Thiago. Javi's time in Munich probably ends, with Boateng everything is open.

Players on loan: Philippe Coutinho (27) is not permanently signed by FC Barcelona because he has lost out in a duel with Müller. Alvaro Odriozola (24 / Real Madrid) has so far not collected any arguments for a further commitment. Ivan Perisic (31 / Inter Milan) is very much appreciated by Flick and could stay.

Assistant coach: So far, Flick has relied on assistants Hermann Gerland and Danny Röhl (specialty analysis). This team will be expanded in summer. Hot candidate: Miroslav Klose, who trains the Munich U 17s. Flick said the Sport Bild: "Miro is always an issue in my current thoughts at Bayern."
