Marinus Sennhofer has had a special alpine season. He not only won the U18 classification, but was also the best German at the Youth Olympics.
Kreuth - When the snow glistens on the mountains and the first carpets of flowers sprout in the valley, it would normally be time for the ski racer to end the winter while driving free. Marinus Sennhofer could have enjoyed these days particularly relaxed this year. The 18-year-old from SC Kreuth won the DSV Youth Cup, became German champion in combination and runner-up in slalom and Bavarian runner-up in slalom.
The highlight was certainly the twelfth place in the Super G, tenth place in the giant slalom and seventh place in the slalom at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne at the end of January, from which Sennhofer returned as the best German. Results that particularly inspire him after the abrupt end of a season that requires a lot of flexibility, if he now slips not into his ski boots but into his running shoes to work on the basics for the next winter by starting in the C-Kader NK1 becomes.
Despite difficult conditions and numerous shifts in a winter that was not one everywhere, the elite of up-and-coming drivers were largely able to complete their program. Sennhofer, who was spared injuries, ran smoothly from the start. With two victories in two races at the start of the youth cup in Pfelders in the Passeier Valley, the Kreuther was allowed to put on the yellow jersey of the leader in the German Cup for the first time after the giant slalom in December - he should only have to hand it over during the season. Whether slalom, giant slalom or Super-G - there was no way around Sennhofer. That a fifth and two fourth places were his worst results in the series with a total of 16 competitions speaks for itself.
Sennhofer wins U18 by 15 points
The top skier from the Oberland Ski Association (SVO) was not allowed to slip due to the strong competition. "The density is high, about five guys are very close together and match well," says Mama Stephanie Sennhofer of the situation in the U18. In the end Marinus Sennhofer was 185 points, 15 points ahead of Felix Lindenmayer (TSV Heimenkirch, 170). Peissenberg's Maximilian Schwarz (136), Max Geissler-Hauber (SC Oberstdorf, 115) and Hannes Amman (RG Burig Mindelheim, 95) followed at a clear distance.
The first title of the season went to the strong technician with a penchant for speed disciplines. With "a very good Super G and a stable slalom run", said trainer Michaela Schmotz, Sennhofer won German championship ahead of Lindenmayer and Geissler-Hauber in the combination of the U18. Lindenmayer returned the favor in the giant slalom, Sennhofer became runner-up. Likewise at the Bavarian Slalom Championships, which could not be held as planned in the Audi ski center on Sonnenbichl, but had to switch to the Jenner.

In the DSV training center at Krautkaser, the active participants found very good conditions on a selective slope that does not forgive mistakes. At the German youth championships in the Super G on the FIS route on the Götschen in Bischofswiesen, a podium finish should not be a matter of blink of an eye. Since then, Marinus Sennhofer has been doing the digital school desk at the sports school of the Federal Police in Bad Endorf, due to the special circumstances, and has been working on his training plan at home to be able to build on the successes next year.
