Landkreis - As the Bavarian Handball Association (BHV) reports, the season in all its leagues is ended - and also scored. Accordingly, there should be promoters, but not relegated teams, which could lead to oversized leagues in the next season.

This regulation corresponds to a recommendation of the German Handball Federation (DHB), which, as reported, had suggested a uniform approach to the state associations. To ensure this, the BHV only wants to officially adopt the final decisions on how to deal with this season after a vote by the DHB Federal Council. This should happen by April 20. After that, there will also be information about the 2020/21 season, the BHV announced.

"In my view, there was no alternative to ending the season," said Bahadir Cagliyan of the association's decision. The TSV Schleißheim trainer calls the rules for ascent and descent "a good solution". Although one could have considered, "shouldn't relegate teams that have no chance of relegation," said Cagliyan. For the TSV Schleißheim, the proposed regulation means a threefold promotion: Both the men trained by Cagliyan in the district league and the women in the district league and class are therefore allowed to go up.

The beneficiaries of the waiver of relegation in the district would be the men of VfR Garching and TSV Haar, who are likely to remain in District League 2, and the women of TSV Ismaning II, who recently also fought for relegation in the District League. In the meantime, the future of the handball players from Haar that rank in the relegation zone in District League 2 is still unclear. Her coach Alexander Hartinger has announced that his team would like to venture into the district league. At the same time, he had criticized the recommendations of the DHB as "too early". According to him, the association could have easily waited until mid-May at the end of a decision.

Christoph Ilg of TSV Ismaning, who welcomes the end of the season, has a different opinion. However, he sees the planned promotion and relegation rules as “split”, says the coach of the national league team. “Teams that are at the top after 75 percent of a season deserve to be promoted. Teams that are at the bottom should then also relegate. ”Ilg calls the association's waiving of this and threatening oversized leagues with additional games next season as“ borderline ”. And he also concedes: "There is probably no perfect solution."
