Martin Pschorr, a former secondary school teacher and city and district councilor, recalled his time as a player and fan of the SpVgg Moosburg in an interview.

Moosburg - Martin Pschorr (73) is closely connected to sport, football and, above all, the game association of 1920. The former secondary school teacher and long-time city and district councilor, who has been a member of the SPD local association since 1970, remembers his time as a player and fan.

Football was played for the first time in Moosburg in 1920, and the name "Pschorr" was already read in the lists in the early years. Was that your father or a relative?

My father was one of the founding members of the Moosburg Gaming Association in 1920 and was one of the first to be active. It sparked my interest in football. I still have an “honorary diploma” hanging in my living room, which he received on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the association in 1930 and which I cherish very much. My uncle, who felt more connected to the then developing motor sport, also joined the club.

Did you play soccer yourself?

Sport has always played a major role in my life so far. I came into contact with football from an early age because my father always took me to the games of the association. We lived near the Bahnhofplatz, and I remember that the audience was very interested. Many came from the near and far, the club had a good name in football circles - far beyond the city.

In our younger years we mostly played football on the street or on open meadows, which was not unproblematic at the time, but was still possible. As a rule, club sport came later than today - I then played at the SpVgg in the 1950s and early 1960s in the school and youth teams with varying degrees of success - also because my footballing skills, as one would say today, are still there "Had room for improvement". I remember a game under coach Josef Held against the youth of FC Bayern with Franz Beckenbauer and other later professionals - I don't think we won high.

What was your connection to the game association at that time?

When you grow up and grow up with a club from childhood, you develop an emotional bond that is no longer lost. So I have always followed the sporting life of the SpVgg with sympathy and interest. As a player in my youth, I think of joint events in the club's local at the train station, social security and good coaches, from whom I could learn a lot. After many years at the station location, the question of securing a venue for the future came up again. After a tough struggle, Mayor Anton Neumaier obtained permission to build a new facility on the road to Feldkirchen. This was the task that I had to deal with the SpVgg in my work as a city councilor. The construction plans were not implemented - new plans for a sports center in the Bonau area became more concrete and finally prevailed.

The former station square with a view of the Moosburg landmarks offers a dreary picture and is not inviting. How can you make this area attractive again and with recreational value?

The area of the former sports fields is currently shown as a green area for sporting use, starting from the last inventory. It is an area that will play a role in inner-city development. The property is owned by private owners. It is the task of the politically responsible to tackle the topic together with the owners and to start discussions. Even if you may have to think in the long term, you should not lose sight of this area for future development.

An anecdote at the end.

Yeah right! In the entrance area to the sports field there was an old bowling alley that belonged to the club restaurant. I made my first money here when I was a child because I signed up to set up the heavy wooden cones again at the bowling rounds and send the balls back. Quite a sweaty job, but I liked to do it and I like to remember it.
