Are FC Bayern Munich interested in a Leverkusen star? Recently rumors about Charles Aranguiz made the rounds - now there is clarity about the future of the Chilean.

  • The coronavirus pandemic is also affecting the sports world *.
  • Changes are expected in the transfer market. So is there a rush towards non-contract players ?
  • Even the Bayern said to have been interested in a transfer-free in the summer players.

Update from May 1, 2020: In April rumors spread that FC Bayern is said to have reached out to  Charles Aranguiz from Bayer Leverkusen . No wonder - the Chilean has played an important role in the “Werkself” for years and would have been a bargain for Bayern (see news from April 18). A few days later, Sport Bild classified the transfer rumor and reported that Aranguiz was “not an issue” with the German record champions.

With the contract extension of Aranguiz until 2023, which was announced on Friday, Leverkusen has now clarified this personnel. "Charles is a very important player for our team," said sporting director Rudi Völler : "The fact that we have once again agreed on a long-term contract underlines the full conviction of everyone involved and the mutual trust."

Sports director Simon Rolfes was also pleased with the contract extension of Aranguiz and sees the Chilean as “a central, strategically very important player. It is an essential pillar for the statics of our team and the entire team. ”

Backflip? Bundesliga star at FC Bayern "not an issue" - he would be a real bargain

Update of April 18, 2020:  The FC Bayern München to Leverkusen's interest in Charles Aranguiz have. The emphasis is on 'should' - because an actual transfer of the Chilean would have surprised all Bundesliga fans.

Aranguiz would be free of charge at the end of the season if Bayer 04 did not renew their expiring contract. Sports director Simon Rolfes had spoken in March of positive signals from the midfielder - but since then there has been no agreement on a new working paper. That is why many other clubs are associated with the right foot.

According to information from Sport Bild , Aranguiz is “not an issue” with the record champions, as FCB expert Tobias Altschäffl reports.

Leverkusen's Charles Aranguiz is not an issue at #fcbayern. The age structure of the Chile (31) does not fit into the concept, talented players should not be blocked. @SPORTBILD @BILD_Sport

- Tobias Altschäffl (@ altobelli13) April 17, 2020

Because of his 31 years alone, the national player does not fit into the Bayern concept, which continues to focus on young players.

Dortmund's Achraf Hakimi would also fall into this category. Meanwhile, there is another fuss about Kingsley Coman.

Transfers in Corona times: free transfer players in focus - Bayern with "great interest" in Vidal buddy

Update from April 16, 2020: We recently reported on football professionals whose contract expires at the end of the season ( see first report ). One of these players is said to have done FC Bayern. Are the reds a mega bargain?

Munich should want to use their competitor Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga *. As the Chilean portal Al Aire Libre reports, the Reds have "great interest" in Charles Aránguiz , whose contract in the Rhineland expires in the summer.

The defensive midfielder is said to be enthusiastic about a possible move to Munich, even if the Chilean fears that he won't make enough appearances.

Bayern Munich: transfer of Charles Aránguiz an issue?

Rumors of a farewell to the 30-year-old had already been heard in the winter, but at the time his advisor emphasized: "So far nothing has come that we like." Atalanta Bergamo would have knocked. The Aránguiz side would have less of an objection to an offer from the German record champion *.

Should the Reds intensify their interest in the central midfielder, a former Bayern star could advertise for Munich - Arturo Vidal .

Aránguiz and Vidal know each other from the Chilean national team and get on well. Before joining the Werkself , Aránguiz sought advice from his buddy . He was “impressed” by what he had experienced, said Aránguiz at the time of his presentation in Leverkusen. Will the "warrior" mediate again?

Transfers in Corona times: Free transfer players

First announcement from April 6, 2020: Munich - While the soccer Bundesliga * is currently pausing due to the current Corona situation, the clubs in the background are planning for the coming season.

Because it is not yet possible to estimate when and how the current season will continue, the clubs are facing uncertain times. Therefore, the behavior could at least always marked by horrendous sums expectant transfer market change.

Corona influence on transfer market: "Greed was the top principle"

Because “up to now you always wanted more in football. Everyone was thinking about how to earn more and more. Greed was the primary principle. In the end, the system explodes, ”as Oliver Bierhoff explains to the Italian Gazetta Dello Sport

The national team director is also of the opinion that the clubs in the transfer market could act somewhat more reserved . The Corona crisis is causing financial problems in the leagues across Europe, so that the postage account is simply not as full as it was half a year ago. So do free players now come into focus?

If their clubs do not renew the expiring contracts, they represent an inexpensive and low-risk alternative to the expensive millions of transfers. Here you will find an overview of players who would be available free of charge for the coming season . All the players mentioned have experience in the Champions League and would therefore also be worth considering for top clubs - possibly also for Bayern Munich *?

Transfer market: These top stars will soon be free of charge

  • Thomas Meunier (28 / Paris Saint-Germain, market value: 30 million euros): The Belgian international, on whom FC Bayern * was sometimes involved, could also stay with PSG, but also switch to the Bundesliga . Recently there were rumors that he was drawn to Dortmund. A transfer would be a real coup for BVB.
  • Willian (31 / Chelsea FC, 28 million): The Brazilian contract at Stamford Bridge expires. There the winger is one of the top earners, which could deter potential interested parties.
  • Dries Mertens (32 / SSC Napoli, 25 million): The offensive man is a regular player at Napoli and is playing a strong season. There is currently a lot of evidence of an extension of the contract, especially since the Italians cannot afford to let such a top star go for free. In 2013, the SSC paid 9.5 million euros for the Belgian.

Free transfer players: Edinson Cavani would help almost every club

  • Edinson Cavani (33 / Paris Saint-Germain, 25 million): Admittedly, Cavani is now at an age that potential prospects are rather unconvinced about. The “Matador”, however, has by no means forgotten how to score and would be a reinforcement for almost every club . Maybe even for Bayern as Robert Lewandowski's storm partner *? Or are the Reds dealing with another offensive man?
  • Charles Aranguiz (27 / Bayer Leverkusen, 15 million): Leverkusen would like to extend with the Chilean, but nothing is signed yet . The midfielder's adviser recently made it clear: “We are still waiting for some offers from Europe. So far nothing has come that we like. Atletico from Spain and Atalanta and Florence have called us but have not yet submitted an offer. ”
  • Layvin Kurzawa (27 / Paris Saint-Germain, 15 million): The left-back came from Monaco to the French capital in 2015, but could say goodbye to it again in a few months. Competitor Juan Bernat currently seems to have the nose for the regular place in front.

Free transfer players: Where is World Cup hero Mario Götze going?

  • Mario Götze (27 / Borussia Dortmund, 13 million): The career of the World Cup winning goal scorers from Rio de Janeiro threatens the next kink. BVB does not want to extend with Götze . But where is the ex-Munich going to then? Lothar Matthäus says “that the top clubs are not waiting for Mario Götze. I think he has to bake small rolls - both from the club and from the salary, ”as he explained in the Sky podcast.
  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic (38 / AC Milan, 3.5 million): It was the return of the year. Seeing Ibrakadabra again in the Milan jersey made the hearts of Italian football fans beat faster. But what does the future of the 38-year-old look like? The Swedish striker is thoughtful: “We'll see what happens to me. In any case, I myself don't know what I want . "

The players mentioned are of course only a selection. Regardless, it remains exciting to see how the transfer market will develop over the next few weeks and months. There are already initial thoughts that expiring contracts should not end on June 30 - but are valid at least until the season is finally over. The consequences of the Corona crisis * for football are still not fully quantifiable, the transfer market seems to be heading for uncertain times.
