Liverpool management has been outraged at the mayor after arguing that the English league need not be renewed behind closed doors because of the risk of fans celebrating the Anfield Championship and causing further contagion with the Corona virus. Liverpool remember, leading the Premier League standings at 25th over Manchester City second. Before the league ended, the Mighty Reds needed only 2 wins to secure a first championship in 30 years.
Premier League clubs are scheduled to meet on Friday to discuss ways to end the season when some teams have already returned for personal training. However, Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson said last night that health and safety are the most important and best thing to do is to announce the end of the season and award the title to Liverpool. Anderson fan of urban rival Everton said: "Even if the games are behind closed doors, there will be thousands of people outside Anfield. Not many people will respect what we said and stay far away from the stadium."
Anderson added: "I think it will be really difficult for police to separate people and keep away from socializing if they celebrate outside Anfield. Liverpool replied to the mayor, saying:" There is no evidence to support these claims. "
