Football clubs have played an important part in fighting the Corona virus since the beginning of the epidemic. The larger the resources of the club, the greater its ability to help the community around it. Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, has helped the city's survivors through their difficult times. John Shills has been working with the Red Devils for 40 years and it is precisely these days that he has never been more proud to work for the team.

The Manchester United Foundation, headed by Shills has been operating for 13 years. They collaborate with 27 high schools and three special education schools. "I think the situation is quite challenging outside, we hear about stories in the homes that one day dad eats and the next day, if the family eats to have enough food to feed their children. Most of the schools we work with have online curricula, but many families do not have the Access to accept these conditions. If they have, they may only have one computer and have 4-5 children working on the same computer. "

United have realized that these days it is not easy to enrich the leisure life of the younger generation who are at home, especially those near the poverty line. "We tried to act as quickly, efficiently as possible, we think the best way to reach the most vulnerable children in our community is to move to schools. We have amazing relationships with the schools." Club members give hundreds of thousands of pounds to needy families as schools donate their share as well. "We told the teachers: 'We know where best to spend the money you get from us,' when it is clear that the division must be made after deep thinking over the past few days in recent months around the world in general and the UK in particular.

United over the last period has also not abandoned its regular treatment of individual people who need direct help. Shills says: "We work with a young guy on a wheelchair who's only thing he likes to do is go and sit on a bench in his garden. Someone has taken the bench away so we are now working to create a bench that he can be happy with again. We help an older child with autism Who loves magic. We're going to do virtual magic lessons for him and then he can show up for the kids they'll be back after quarantine. "

United's most important contribution in recent times has been to the NHS - the common name for the four public health systems in the United Kingdom. The Demons delivered 60,000 meals to employees on the front line of patient care as 80 volunteers prepared the food and packed it. Last Thursday United decided to illuminate the Old Trafford Central Stadium sign with the NHS caption to show the appreciation the city residents are getting for doctors. "It was fantastic and one of those 'Europeans' moments. That's the strength of the club." Shills said.

Now at the beginning of his fifth decade at the club, John is important to note that the Manchester Foundation's work never stops, but simply gets a spotlight on days like this: "We tell the kids who are with us that we are in it 365 days a year, we always stand out in the community because of "We are Manchester United but we are not looking for the headlines. We just want people to know that we are always here for them, even in a case like the Corona epidemic."
