The central points of the hygiene concept for the Bundesliga

Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Games have been suspended in the Bundesliga for over seven weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A task force headed by national team doctor Tim Meyer has created a safety and hygiene concept with which the Bundesliga should end its season with ghost games.

The key points of the DFL hygiene concept:

- close and regular testing of the players that started in the previous week. Before resuming team training, each club should have tested its players at least twice to prevent new infections. Two negative tests are a prerequisite for players to be able to return to training mode.

- Contact persons of the professionals should also be tested voluntarily at larger intervals. Alternatively, people who do not want this can document each contact in writing.

- If a player tests positive for the corona virus, the entire team does not automatically have to be quarantined. Based on the measures taken (long-term testing), players and coaches could be classified in Category II (lower risk of infection), which results in "optional informational and contact-reducing measures" instead of a group quarantine. The local health authorities decide on this.

- Around 300 people are said to be around the stadiums during matches. These are to be distributed roughly evenly over the three zones interior, grandstand and stadium area.

- The stays in the cabins should be reduced to a minimum. There are no rituals like running in together, mascots or team photos.

- All attendees - with the exception of active players and referees - are required to wear mouth-nose protection in the stadium. The balls should be disinfected before and during the game.

- Players are encouraged to quasi-quarantine. Among other things, there should no longer be any contacts with the neighborhood, no visits, and no public transport.

- Positive corona cases should not be reported to the press automatically, since "disease verification and the clear documentation of the presumed transmission routes are in the foreground".

- The DFL advises the clubs to ensure a "sufficiently large squad" for the season finale.
