The athletes in the district of Starnberg are looking forward to returning to club sports. There will be no competitions for a while.

District - sport without proper training is no doubt possible. "But you can also do something wrong when you run," says Sabine Mandl. However, due to the corona pandemic, the chairwoman of the LC Buchendorf was recently unable to offer her members training instructors. But since Tuesday's announcements by the Bavarian state government, there has been hope that something will change soon.

"We rely on the Gauting community to let us train at the main school places again," says Mandl. Training children and young people in particular is likely to continue to be difficult. "But the children have certainly learned a lot recently when it comes to hygiene," Mandl believes. However, she can also well imagine that her athletes continue to keep fit independently. "As a pure runner's club, the crisis didn't hit us too hard," says Mandl.

Clubs look forward to new registrations

Instead, she was delighted to find out who suddenly you could meet in the neighborhood while running and cycling. "We would of course be happy if some interested parties would join us," said Mandl, whose club also has a small triathlon division.

Competitions are out of the question in the near future. "We'll have to wait a while longer," feared the sports director of LG Würm Athletik, Korbinian Mayr. Otherwise, his athletes seem to have come through the crisis well so far. “We were sometimes really surprised at the training options our athletes have at home,” reports Mayr. His main concern is that a second corona wave will come in autumn. "If we had to do without the entire winter season under the roof of the hall, it would be devastating," he clarifies.

Without competitions, expenses are also lower

At the moment, the athletes who suffer the most, as professional soldiers, would have to provide proof of achievement in order to remain in the support cadres. "How this is regulated is still completely open," Mayr says. Financially, the damage is still limited. "Without competitions, a large part of the expenses are also eliminated," says Mayr.

With the TSV 1880 Starnberg, the sporty comparison is not the focus anyway. "We are a popular sports club. The fact that we have to cancel our popular athletics festival this summer already hurts, ”says Managing Director Benedikt Pohlus.

"We could start from us"

After all, there will soon be training for young people and senior citizens. “We could start from there,” says Roman Boeven, head of the athletics department at TSV.

Dr. In contrast, Michael Fuchs does not want to rush anything in the coming weeks. "I am not a risk-taker," says the athletics department manager at TV Planegg-Krailling. Together with the main club, Fuchs would like to check exactly what is possible and what is not possible on the sports grounds. "For example, I cannot imagine that we will be holding our two sports festivals this year," says Fuchs. However, they have not yet been canceled.
