Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - No more debate about the ghost games with Angela Merkel as captain, Armin Laschet and Markus Söder as attacker, Karl Lauterbach and other defensive attitude experts: the Bundesliga can look forward to football again.
After the green light from the federal government and the federal states for the resumption of play, the game continues on May 15th in front of empty ranks. Exciting decisions have to be made in the nine remaining game days:
CHAMPIONSHIP: Leader FC Bayern is four points ahead of Borussia Dortmund and five over RB Leipzig, plus the better goal difference. The record champion is aiming for the eighth title in a row and most recently had a run under coach Hansi Flick. Munich still have to go to Dortmund and Leverkusen and play at home against fourth Borussia Mönchengladbach.
PARTICIPATION IN THE EUROPACUP: The biggest candidate for the four Champions League places is next to the top quartet Leverkusen with two points behind Gladbach. FC Schalke 04 is sixth with 37 points, ten points behind Bayer. VfL Wolfsburg, SC Freiburg (both 36) and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (35) are also good in the fight for the two Europa League participants. If Bayern Munich becomes champion and DFB Cup winner, the Bundesliga seventh will also be in the Europa League.
ABSTIEGSKAMPF: Ascorer SC Paderborn has the worst cards as the bottom with only 16 points even after the Corona break.
