The tennis courts are open again: This makes the two largest clubs in the district happy and relieved.

District - The opening of the tennis facilities on Monday and the associated approval for sports by politics comes at exactly the right time for the Bavarian Tennis Association (BTV). BTV had already announced a week ago that it definitely wanted to play a summer round in its leagues. An official announcement as to whether this works is still pending, but at least the foundations have now been laid. The winter round ends with immediate effect without ascents and descents.

Tennis: Masters are played, but promotion and relegation are voluntary

The summer season is supposed to be a transition season. That means: Although champions are played out in the leagues, performance class and ranking lists are used without restriction. There will be no regular ascent and descent this year. The current division of leagues and groups for the 2020 summer season is therefore also the basis for the team registration for the 2021 summer season. Nevertheless, the championship could still pay off in the end, because for free places in the 2021 summer leagues the results of the 2020 transition season should - as far as possible classes below are used. An ascent is also possible this year, as is a voluntary descent.

Tennis: Choosing a transition season wasn't easy

The clubs also have the option of withdrawing teams without penalty through Sunday, May 17th, via the BTV portal. “We did not take the decision to carry out a transition season lightly. Ultimately, however, the BTV Presidium and the district chairmen voted unanimously, ”explains BTV President Helmut Schmidbauer. "We also ask for your understanding that, just like politics, we cannot give any guarantees." On the basis of the government regulation, the association has drawn up guidelines for hygiene and behavioral rules for tennis courts. The most important basic principle is that there must always be a distance of at least 1.5 meters between all people on the system. In addition, no more than five people may use a tennis court at the same time.

Tennis: Doubles can now be played

However, this means that doubles can now be played compared to an earlier announcement by the BTV. Changing rooms, showers and tennis halls remain closed. In addition, the BTV is based on the hygiene tips of the Federal Center for Health Education. The association sees no danger in the use and touch of the same tennis ball by different people. He relies on the virologist Melanie Brinkmann, who explained that the idea was absurd that the virus could be transmitted like this: "At least on the condition that the players don't spit vigorously on the ball and throw it into the opponent's mouth." According to the BTV, the University Clinic for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in Frankfurt comes to the same judgment, with which the German Tennis Association (DTB) has made a request. The home newspaper asked the two largest clubs in the Altland district of Weilheim how they deal with the situation and how they want to contest the coming season.

Tennis: The TC Weilheim was very busy on the first day

Since yesterday, TC Weilheim has been playing again on the facility on the Narbonner Ring. "Almost all the seats were taken, there is a lot of activity," press spokesman Oliver Richter reports with satisfaction. The club from the district town meticulously adheres to the requirements of the association. The toilets are open, showers and changing rooms are blocked, tables and chairs in the open are not even set up. "We also set up a one-way arrangement when booking a seat," says Richter. The tennis hall remains closed. But soon the tennis restaurant will open.

Tennis: At TC Weilheim only men 75 will not start in the points round so far

After the BTV has revised its original hygiene concept - no doubles, no shower facilities and catering on site - almost all teams from Weilheim, including those in the BTV leagues with a long journey, will take part in the game operations of this transition season. Only the men 75, whose players are among the Corona risk patients due to their age, refrain from starting in the Bayernliga. According to the judge, the ladies 40 (super district league) will “rather not” participate. In the higher-class leagues, the Weilheimers will go into the 2020 round of points games for men 40, men 70, women 50 (all Bayern league) and men 55 (state league). Since promotion and relegation in this season, which was declared as a transition season, are practically eliminated this time, "the teams will see all of this quite easily," Richter said. They simply enjoy the fact that there is a bit of normalcy again.

Tennis: The senior tournament for the Weilheim Sparkassencup will be canceled this year

While team game operations appear to be secure for the 2020 season, there is no good news for tournament players. The 18th edition of the senior tournament for the Weilheim Sparkassen Cup, which is traditionally held at the end of July, will be canceled this year. "There would be too much operation on the facility with the spectators and the participants," says Richter, and that is incompatible with the applicable hygiene regulations. On top of that, due to the late start of the season, there were "massive overlaps in dates" in the media round.

Tennis: TC Weilheim praises the cohesion of its members

As bad as the corona pandemic is for the club, it has also made it positive: "There is great cohesion among the members," says Richter. So far, no one has made claims to recourse, despite the fact that training has so far been dormant. The parents of the young tennis players “have a lot of understanding,” says Richter.

Tennis: At TC Penzberg, the "anticipation of the outdoor season is palpable"

Dr. Monday showed up about the opening of the clay courts yesterday. Thilo Klütsch is delighted: "Taking into account some rules of conduct, we can now finally practice our fascinating tennis sport", the chairman of TC Penzberg is quoted in a message from the club. The anticipation for the outdoor season "is palpable for all leisure and team players of the club", reports press spokesman Florian Huber. The association also cordially invites interested non-members to try tennis free of charge on the grounds on Seeshaupter Straße (daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.). Registration is possible via the TC Penzberg office (email: geschaeftsstelle@tennisclub-penzberg.de).

Tennis: TC Penzberg continues to expand hygiene measures

In addition to the hygiene requirements of the Bavarian Tennis Association, the TC Penzberg takes further measures on its facility. This means that no trash cans, umbrellas, line brooms and billboards are provided. Irrigation systems and pullers "should ideally be handled with your own gloves," the association asks in its message. In addition, thanks to special conversions, all doors can be opened comfortably with your foot. "This should minimize the risk of infection," says Huber.

Tennis: Coaches resume work at TC Penzberg

With the opening of the open-air spaces, the trainers Roland Hecker and David Vesely resume their work. Vesely also gives coaching lessons on weekends. Youth attendant Susanne Wagner regrets that the club is currently unable to offer the training formats "ball school" for four to six year olds and "basic training" for six to eight year olds. “Here we cannot guarantee the required distance-keeping rule. As soon as group lessons with more than 4 children are allowed, we look forward to being able to play with our youngest again, ”the club writes in its message. Camps for children and young people are to be offered again in the summer holidays.

Tennis: Men 40 of TC Penzberg do not start in the Landesliga

Of the 17 Penzberger teams (six for youngsters, eleven for adults), not all of them are likely to take part in the point game operation. The men 40 (Landesliga) do not start due to the long journey to the away games. For the men's team, which was promoted to the Super District League last year, the transition season is "a good test, on the other hand," said Huber.
