Champions League on free TV: what sounds impossible in Germany will soon come true in Austria. Why is the deal from Servus-TV worth it?

  • So the Red Bull broadcaster got the rights for all European club competitions from 2021 .
  • But is it just PR for the sponsored teams?

Salzburg - What will probably not be possible in Germany due to the developments of the past few years will be a reality in Austria from the 2021/22 season. CL on free TV: Does RedBull broadcaster ServusTV only advertise for sponsored teams?

Sender Ferdinand Wegscheider was proud of the acquisition of the broadcasting rights. "This is unique in Europe and we are delighted accordingly!" Said Wegscheider. The management team at ServusTV seems to have a clear plan behind the purchase of the popular but expensive rights. The owner of the station, Red Bull Media House GmbH , has a major influence on this  . Since Red Bull with RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzbur provides two teams g whose minimum requirement is the Europa League, could be the investment over three seasons as a tactically wise call.

Top football on free TV: ServusTV does not use ice hockey

The free live broadcasts all over Austria could increase the popularity of the Austrian series master and his often criticized German counter-proposal and thus bring more profit to the Red Bull group . This also fits the new savings from ServusTV, where the games of Austria's top ice hockey league usually ran. It recently separated from the latter broadcasting rights and exchanged puck for leather ball .

In Germany, Amazon, DAZN and ZDF secured the rights from 2021. A well-known broadcaster was the big loser in rights poker.
