Tennis is played again. Despite all the restrictions in terms of distance, hygiene, ascent or descent - the protagonists are pleased that at the courts in Dachau and the surrounding area other beings can finally be spotted than curious crows or wandering toads.

Helmut Treutler, boss of the Tennisfreunde Dachau association, expresses his relief, but adds in the same breath to the problems that still exist and that are still causing great headache for those responsible: “We are all pleased that we are allowed to play tennis outdoors again. For this reason, almost all seats were already occupied on Monday - even during the day. Unfortunately the weather didn't really play along, and you can't (yet) enter the hall. We are therefore trembling about the 2020/2021 winter season. Of course, we need the revenue from the halls in order to survive economically. A five-week breakdown like 2020 would be a disaster. Thankfully, our members and hall subscribers showed very solidarity. No one has made demands on the club for default. But of course we hope that the hall lock will also be lifted by October. Usually our hall subscribers order in May. We have to wait a bit this year. ”

Of course, point games are also a hotly debated topic among tennis fans. Treutler: "We recently received the official announcement from BTV that the association intends to play point games again this year, in a so-called transition season, starting on June 8th."

In this, the promotion and relegation rule is overridden, teams that do not line up or start incompletely should not be sanctioned. Showers are only allowed, if at all, to visiting teams; A maximum of two people are allowed in the changing room. During breaks in the rain, everyone active in the car has to wait for the game to continue. Likewise, as long as the catering is closed, there is no so-called guest meal, but afterwards this is only possible with considerable restrictions. When driving to away games, a maximum of two people with face protection may sit in one car.

Treutler emphasizes: “Since we cannot imagine that it will be fun to play point games this year with these and other restrictions, the TF and the TC board, both unanimously, decided to forego point games in 2020 . We also passed this recommendation on to the teams. We believe that there is much more important to corona than playing point games. If our youngsters are not allowed to go to school, we think it is paradoxical for them to play point games. And our seniors all belong to the risk group and should therefore do without games with strangers and trips away. The last clarifications are still ongoing. As of today, we will only report two to three youth teams and around three or four adult teams from our 38 TeG teams. The rest of our team leaders prefer not to play under the given conditions. ”

Helmut Treutler regrets another consequence of the corona crisis: “District tournaments are currently still suspended from the DTB. We canceled the Dachau Volksfest tournament and the Dachau city championships, which were scheduled in August, because the basis, the Dachau Volksfest, will be canceled. All other tournaments are currently still in the air. The ASV Dachau is still planning with the Dachau youth district championships at the end of July and the VR Cup at the beginning of September, but these events are also at great risk of failure. ”
