Berlin (dpa) - The TV blackout to restart the Bundesliga after the Corona break is averted. The live broadcast of the match between Werder Bremen and Bayer 04 Leverkusen will be shown on Monday evening in the DAZN streaming service.
This was announced by the German Football League on Twitter. "The #DFL is in talks about other games," it said. For a long time, a transfer of the last game of match day 26 was on the brink. The background to the problem is a dispute over the TV contract between the Eurosport / Discovery group and the DFL.
DAZN has acquired a sublicense from the divisional broadcaster Eurosport, which had secured the rights for a total of 40 point games live in the most recent call for tenders: for the 30 Bundesliga games on Friday, five each on Sunday and Monday. After two seasons with moderate viewer success, Eurosport had decided against further use of the rights last summer and had concluded a contract with DAZN.
So far, according to information from the German Press Agency, Eurosport has not paid the last TV installment of the current season - and DAZN has not paid its share in the Eurosport parent company Discovery.
