Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - DFB President Fritz Keller calls for a five-point plan for the sustainable design of football to set a salary ceiling for professionals.
"We also have to bring professional football closer to people again," said Keller in a video press interview. "Commissions for player consultants and immense transfer amounts irritate society increasingly and alienate us from our beloved sport."
The advance was also supported by Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz-Rummenigge, with whom Keller had a telephone conversation. "He is in my opinion," said the boss of the German Football Association. "I was very happy about that, because Karl-Heinz Rummenigge did a lot for football and also played an international role in the industry. This gives us a very, very big chance to go one step further," said Keller.
During the conversation, the two top officials also cleared up their last public differences. Rummenigge had voiced sharp criticism of Keller on Sunday after the Bayern game at 1. FC Union Berlin after he had confirmed that German football was "big-boiled" in an interview with the news magazine "Der Spiegel". "But I didn't mean a single Bayern player," said Keller.
