Munich (dpa) - After the political permission for the season to continue the basketball Bundesliga, Marko Pesic from FC Bayern appealed to the sense of responsibility of everyone involved.

"We do something that has never existed in basketball. This requires the highest level of discipline from everyone, so that the whole effort is worth it in the end," said the managing director of Munich to the German Press Agency. "I have no doubt that we can do it."

At a cabinet meeting, the Bavarian state government approved BBL's plans to continue the season after the Corona break from the first weekend in June with a tournament with ten teams in Munich. Throughout the tournament, players and coaches from all teams will be quarantined in a hotel near the Olympic Park.

The okay of politics is a "huge advance of trust" for basketball, said Pesic. "Now it is important that we all live up to this responsibility. Everyone has to behave very intelligently and disciplined in the next six weeks."

Before the tournament can begin as planned on the first weekend in June, the ten teams will have to prepare for around three weeks at their respective locations. The approval of the health authorities is a prerequisite for returning to team training.

Munich can start training again. "We are currently in the first test phase of the training phase at FC Bayern," said Pesic. "The tests before resuming training were all negative, and so was the first test during the training phase for all 22 participants."
