5: 1 win against Bayern: Because Frankfurt collapsed on the transfer market - the dive then began

FC Bayern meet Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. The SBU has slept on the transfer market in the recent past. An analysis of the squad.

Munich - It was a memorable afternoon in the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt. On November 2, 2019, the Hessians dismantled FC Bayern after an early red card for Jerome Boateng according to all the rules of art. In the end it was 5-1 for Frankfurt and the end of Niko Kovac as FCB coach was sealed.

This furious appearance of the SBU was rather an exception to the otherwise rather dreary season this season. Frankfurt put the Europa League game against Basel (0-3) in the sand before the Corona break *  , is still represented in the DFB Cup, is in table 13. but currently closer to the relegation place than to the international ranks. The last five games have been lost and the SBU is five points ahead of Fortuna Düsseldorf (16th) in the relegation battle - even if some people on the Main don't really want to admit this. A squad analysis of why things go wrong with Eintracht this season. 

Eintracht Frankfurt: The departure of the "buffalo herd" was not compensated

The problems already started in the summer when the so-called "buffalo herd" was looking for a new challenge. The offensive trio around Sebastian Haller (now West Ham United), Luka Jovic (Real Madrid) and Ante Rebic (loan to AC Milan) felt called to higher and changed the club. The transfers brought the financially rather clumsy Eintracht a whopping 120 million euros in the coffers, but also left a great vacuum in the storm of the eagles. 

The newcomers Andre Silva (loan from AC Milan) and Bas Dost (committed by Sporting Lisbon) have so far not been completely convincing. Both scored five Bundesliga goals. Since Silva is likely to return to Italy in the summer and Dost is developing into a problem rather than a solution due to his enormous susceptibility to injury, Frankfurt may soon have to reposition itself completely in the storm. Going into the new season only with Goncalo Paciencia (seven goals) would be negligent. Talent Dejan Joveljic does not seem to be ready for the big Bundesliga soccer stage * .

When Bas Dost is fit, he also performs. But that was the Dutch 1.96-meter edge only rarely this season. Dost always throws back minor injuries.

Eintracht Frankfurt: The Hessian offensive game is too easy to calculate

Another problem area is the offensive game of Eintracht . This is extremely designed on the left side around Filip Kostic . The Serb is certainly one of the best players in the Bundesliga * in terms of position , but the Frankfurt team lacks a counterpart on the right. For this reason, the attacking efforts of the Adi Hütter team are extremely easy to calculate. The club bosses around manager  Fredi Bobic missed this position in the summer. 

Fredi Bobic has to put up with the accusation that he hasn't made the happiest decisions in the transfer market recently. Especially since the transfer policy of the Hesse was actually always excellent recently.

Eintracht Frankfurt: There is a lack of creativity in the midfield

Finally, a creative player is missing in midfield. Sebatian Rode  (committed by the BVB after a loan) convinced with his fighting spirit and also newcomer Djibril Sow (previously YB Bern) did the same for the ex-Munich in this category, but both increasingly lack the urge to enter the top third. Even Dominik Kohr (taken from Leverkusen) expectations have not been met to his person. Because Mijat Gacinovic and Daichi Kamada are only convincing in certain areas , there is an urgent need to catch up in the central position.

Eintracht Frankfurt: The club bosses should have invested better in the summer

Ultimately, it can be highly credited to the Frankfurt that they did not immediately squander the millions of euros they had just gained. Given the current sporting situation, the club bosses could have shown more courage on the transfer market last summer (or at the latest in winter) . Because the way the team is currently put together, the table looks more downwards than upwards.
