Ligue 1: the 2020-2021 season will start on August 23

2020-05-23T12:32:13.062Z

In the minutes of its last meeting, the LFP declares that it wants to resume the championship on August 23.

If the date has not yet been officially fixed, the LFP, in consultation with the three broadcasters, Canal + , beIN SPORTS and Mediapro, published in its latest minutes of its board of directors, a first date for resumption of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2: respectively on August 23 and 22. But these dates are not yet final, since they will depend on the UEFA Executive Committee, scheduled for June 17. Regarding the Cup finals, no decision has been made yet, the LFP says it is awaiting government instructions.

PSG and OL back before the others?

As things stand, PSG and OL could resume competition in early August in the Champions League (Juventus-Lyon, in the round of 16, is currently set for August 9). But the two clubs could also find themselves in the final of the League Cup.

On the side of our neighbors, Italy, Spain and England are more or less off to resume their championship, while Germany, the first major championship to resume, plays its second day post-containment this week end and hopes to end its season at the end of June.
