Orlando (AP) - The North American professional basketball league NBA has confirmed talks with Disney about a continuation of the season on the grounds of Disney World in Orlando.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass said, according to the AP news agency, but the talks are still at an informal stage.
The site, which has almost 24,000 hotel rooms, should also be used for training and accommodation. The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex with various arenas is part of Disney World. The US broadcaster ESPN, which is primarily owned by Disney, had reported that the season should be restarted before the end of July. According to NBA spokesman Bass, the league is working with experts and authorities on a concept that should ensure the health of everyone involved.
With a total area of 15,000 hectares, the Walt Disney World Resort is one of the largest amusement park complexes in the world. Due to the corona pandemic, the NBA season has been interrupted since mid-March. Games in the gambling paradise of Las Vegas or in Houston were also recently discussed.
