Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - How is the season evaluated when the Bundesliga has to be abandoned? This delicate question remains unanswered even after an extraordinary meeting of the Presidium of the German Football League.
According to a DFL announcement, the Presidium "came to the conclusion that at the present time there is no detailed regulation in the event of an inevitable termination of the season and therefore, for the time being, no recommendation and further consideration of the DFL General Assembly on this matter" .
The controversial topic had already been adjourned at the general assembly 14 days ago. At that time it was said that "within the next two weeks a regulation regarding the athletic classification should be developed".
At least it is now clear what should not happen. The DFL Presidium excludes "based on the first round table for the final scoring or canceling the entire season". The message also said: "If not all clubs in a league had played the same number of games at the end of the season, a compensation mechanism - for example a quotient rule - would be necessary to evaluate the table."
