Munich (dpa) - The soccer women of FC Bayern Munich are looking forward to a new start after a break of almost three months.
"Of course, the preparation for the quarantine week was a bit different than usual, but we have accepted the situation very well as a team in the past few days and weeks and coped with it together," said coach Jens Scheuer before the game against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday.
The Munich start as second in the table (38 points), the team from Kraichgau is one point behind. VfL Wolfsburg is the leader with 46 points. "The next game is always the most important game - that's why our only focus at the moment is the game against Hoffenheim," said Scheuer. "But then there are five more and then equally important games that we all want to win. If we beat Hoffenheim at home on Saturday, we will take an important step forward."
The Bundesliga is the first women's league in Europe to start playing again. Defending champion VfL Wolfsburg starts the 17th matchday on Friday against 1. FC Köln (2.00 p.m.), followed by the game 1. FFC Frankfurt against SC Sand in the evening (7.15 p.m.).
The FC Bayern women are preparing for the Bundesliga restart on Saturday in a one-week quarantine training camp. "Now that we are all clear about the game, we also know where we are and can focus 100 percent on what will come! We are very excited to play against Hoffenheim," said the Dutch vice- World champion Lineth Beerensteyn.
