Dießen - For two months, soccer teams weren't allowed to go on the grass because of the Corona crisis - so of course the Landesliga women of MTV Dießen . "A cruel time," says coach Nico Weis . Fortunately, this has been over for his soccer players for almost a week: The first training session after the long forced break took place on Sunday. This made the MTV women one of the first teams in the district to resume training. "We were the Dießen pioneers, so to speak," says Weis, because the men of the MTV didn't follow until two days later.

Captain Breitenberger as an assistant coach on the pitch

Even if the current season is to be continued in September at the earliest, the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) allowed amateur teams to resume their training almost two weeks ago - provided an extensive hygiene concept and strict keeping a distance. This creates a completely new training feeling. In Dießen it started when you arrived at the sports field. Disinfecting hands was the first thing to do. This was ensured by captain Maria Breitenberger , who acted as an assistant coach at the first unit after Corona and was only briefly on the ball herself. A hand injury forces the captain to pause. Nevertheless, Breitenberger laced her soccer shoes - she doesn't knock anything over so quickly.

13 female soccer players came to Dießen for a “restart”. "It's nice to see other faces again," said Andrea Eigler from the Inningen district of Buch, pleased and said what her teammates also thought. After training at home, they were finally allowed to run the ball on the grass field again. They practiced in groups of four on the main square in three precisely delineated squares. Goalkeeper Darinka Kaden meanwhile worked with goalkeeper coach Günter Schindhelm. This was followed by goal practice on the training ground with a clear announcement from the coach: "Take the balls with you, but not with your hand." After a good one and a half hours, the first session was over after nine weeks.

"The girls were disciplined and happy that they could get out"

"Of course it was great fun," said top scorer Andrea Bichler . The trainer was also satisfied - although the course is not yet in an optimal condition. “For the first time, we did a great job. The girls were totally disciplined and were happy that they were able to get out of their own four walls, ”said Coach Weis. “You saw that everyone was totally happy to finally have the ball on their feet again - and to bolt it onto the goal. But now I hope that something changes soon, I don't want to train for four months without contact. ”His players also hope for a slow return to normal. "I have to get used to the fact that I have to go home without a shower after training," said Andrea Eigler. Incidentally, the Dießen sports field and the soccer box are still closed to recreational athletes.
