Wolfsburg (dpa) - Defending champion VfL Wolfsburg celebrated a befitting victory at the restart of the women's soccer Bundesliga. The championship leader prevailed against 1. FC Köln 4: 0 (2: 0).
The goals for the Wolfsburgers were scored by Pernille Harder (33rd minute / penalty, 78th), Svenja Huth (45th) and Alexandra Popp (65th). Cologne's Amber Barrett saw the red card in the 76th minute.
Like all sports leagues, the women's soccer Bundesliga had been paused since mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic. The still undefeated VfL Wolfsburg is heading towards the next championship due to the undisputed success. The two pursuers FC Bayern Munich and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will meet on Saturday (1 p.m.).
