While the Italian Sports Minister officially announced Thursday the return of Serie A on June 20, Italian media reports that the resumption match will finally be held on Friday June 19 and will pit Atalanta Bergamo against Sassuolo. A meeting, strong in symbol, synonymous ...

Quite a symbol! The day after the official resumption of Serie A on June 20 by the Italian Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora, more than three months after his suspension due to the pandemic of Covid-19, Sky Sport Italia and the Gazzetta dello Sportreveal this Friday that the resumption match will finally take place on Friday 19 June and will see Atalanta Bergamo in Sassuolo. A very meaningful meeting. Bergamo (4th), which is probably the city most affected by the Covid-19 in Italy, will receive as part of the 25th day Sassuolo (11th), the last team to have played before the interruption of the season on 9 March. This very symbolic poster will thus be played, most certainly behind closed doors, in Bergamo in order to pay tribute to all the victims of the coronavirus. Other matches of the 25th day will take place on June 20. On the program, Inter Milan-Sampdoria, Torino-Parma and Verona-Cagliari, unveils the Gazzetta . Then the Championship may resume normally with all the teams at the same number of games played (26). At the top of the current Serie A standings is Juventus Turin. The Old Lady's club is just one point ahead of Lazio Rome.

Towards a postponement of the Italian Cup

The National Cup was to open the ball, but that is no longer certain. The Juventus-Milan AC return semi-final would be scheduled on June 13 and the next day would be Naples-Inter Milan. But there are still discussions around its dates. The hypothesis of asking the government for the possibility of advancing the two semi-finals by a few days will take shape, according to Italian media. The Italian Cup final, scheduled for June 17, could therefore also change date.
