Berlin (dpa) - Oliver Bierhoff has suggested that the upcoming Nations League not be played with outbound and return games, but as an event at a neutral location.
"That would be an alternative. A kind of mini-tournament could be an idea," said the DFB director to the specialist magazine "Kicker". Since it was probably not yet possible to play with spectators in autumn, "the national associations may be more willing to play in a neutral location. This would prevent unnecessary travel and could ... better control the players."
According to Bierhoff, the DFB would be available to host such a tournament: "We have the know-how and a top organization in the DFB, as we have proven many times. If such a model helps UEFA, I would say: Yes, we are ready. " German group opponents in League A are Ukraine, Spain and Switzerland.
