Herzogenaurach (dpa) - According to a newspaper report, the sporting goods manufacturer Adidas is ending its supplier contract with the former national soccer player Mesut Özil (31). This will not be extended after the end of the season, the "Bild" reported.
Adidas spokesman Oliver Brüggen said on request that the group generally does not comment on contract talks publicly. The partnership between the Herzogenaurach company and today's Arsenal player started in 2013.
Adidas also held on to the player after Özil's retirement from the German national soccer team. "As a brand ambassador, he will of course remain a member of the Adidas family," it said in 2018. The 2014 world champion will be under contract with FC Arsenal until the end of June 2021. The London club is also currently being equipped by Adidas.
