Leverkusen (dpa) - FC Bayern Munich has continued its super series under coach Hansi Flick at Bayer Leverkusen and is rushing towards the eighth German championship title with seven-mile boots.

After an early deficit and recently two defeats against Leverkusen, the Munich team won 4-2 (3-1) and could ideally be the champions next week after their eleventh competitive win in a row. In a way, Bayern also mathematically secured participation in the Champions League.

Kingsley Coman (27th minute), the strong Leon Goretzka (42nd) and Serge Gnabry (45th) turned the game after the early deficit by Lucas Alario (9th) before the break. The Argentine replaced the short-term injured Kai Havertz, who is being courted by Bayern. Robert Lewandowski with his 30th goal of the season after Thomas Müller's 20th assist followed up (66th). Both Lewandowski and Müller will miss Bayern yellow-carded against Borussia Mönchengladbach next Saturday. The 17-year-old Florian Wirtz reduced for Leverkusen with his first goal in the fourth Bundesliga game shortly before the end to 4-2 (89th).

The Leverkusen, who also have an impressive record in calendar year 2020 with 13 wins from 17 games, meanwhile also clearly lost the second ghost home game after the 4: 4 against Wolfsburg and missed the return to a Champions League place. The Werkself had won the previous two games against Munich in February 2019 (3-1) and away in November 2019 (2-1).

Havertz was absent for a short time due to muscular problems and therefore did not spend a minute against FC Bayern this season: In the first leg he sat on the bench for 90 minutes after a torn fiber. A third chance to audition for Munich could be in the cup final on July 4th if Leverkusen win their semi-finals against Frankfurt in Saarbrücken and Munich on Wednesday. It is "difficult to say" whether Havertz can play for third-division promoters, according to coach Peter Bosz.

Without the 20-year-old, Bosz had chosen a surprisingly offensive 3-4-3, in which the more offensive Nadiem Amiri and Leon Bailey had to take on many full-back duties. And although Munich were consistently dominant, Bayer took the lead early on. After Julian Baumgartlinger's pass to Alario, referee Manuel Gräfe initially decided to be offside. However, the TV pictures showed that David Alaba had saved this in the middle.

Bayern played in the meantime literally around the Leverkusen penalty area, but the equalization fell through a counterattack. Goretzka already initiated the turn here with a strong ball conquest against Moussa Diaby and a nice pass to Coman, the Frenchman scored his third goal of the season. A quarter of an hour later Goretzka then took the lead with a left-footed shot from 16 meters. Gnabry then gave away 3-1 in front of Bayer goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky, shortly afterwards he scored it after a 60-meter pass from Joshua Kimmich and Lupfer via Hradecky.

Bosz made three changes at the break and switched to a back four with classic full-backs. Bayer was now better in the game, also because the Munich team retreated. Nevertheless, the Bayern had clearly better chances. Müller (48.) and Gnabry (64.) awarded before Lewandowski still scored his goal with a header. At Leverkusen, Kevin Volland's 15-minute comeback after almost four months' injury break and teen Wirtz's premier goal gave reason to celebrate.
