Garmisch-Partenkirchen - The comparison with the laughing and crying eye is pretty hackneyed these days. But he often hits the nail pretty hard on the head. The fact that Silvan Heiß is now leaving his home in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and joining the Dresden Eislöwen in DEL2 is a perfect example. Both parties are exactly in this position: On one hand, the player is very reluctant to leave home, the familiar environment , in which he has developed very well in the past two years, on the other hand, he now has the hoped-for chance to play a league higher up. The situation is similar for the club: it loses one of its most valuable crops, but basically has to be happy to once again place a young lad in a higher class as a talent factory. Pana Christakakis draws a simple conclusion: "He wants to progress, we cannot currently offer him the opportunity." So the 23-year-old's farewell is only logical.

However, the departure hits those responsible in Riesserseer hard. "It really hurts, I had to nibble on it for a week," admits the managing director of the GmbH. Because he knows how difficult it will be to replace this loss. Those responsible have already dealt with the topic. There is no solution. "It won't be easy, we have to talk to Munich about who we can get from there," says Christakakis.

He praises it in high tones. “Silvan is not just a loss in terms of sport. He was also a super-type character, calm, level-headed, always extremely hard-working. ”He is very well aware that the SCR has again devoted itself to training and promoting young players after a new start two years ago. "We want to continue on this path consistently, but losing a good local player always hurts us twice."

For Heiß, the career ladder goes up. At least one rung. For the first time, he will be appearing next season in the DEL2. The Garmisch-Partenkirchner is extremely pleased that it worked with Dresden. "A great city," says the defender. He had good conversations with sports director Marco Stichnoth. "Sure, he couldn't promise me any special role," says Heiß. Nevertheless, those responsible in Saxony are convinced of the potential of Werdenfels. "They scouted me and think I have what it takes for DEL2."

Trust - this is an important factor for hot. Before returning to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2018, he didn't always feel it from the clubs. His star only really opened in his home country. Because the coaches Toni Söderholm and later George Kink showed a lot of appreciation to the weasel-quick defender, promoted his skills. A fact that brought Heiß to the realization that "one door always opens when another closes".

In the end, the return to the roots turns out to be the decisive component for the young man, which helped to really push the career again. "The two years at SCR were extremely important to me," he says in retrospect. The hot change from a defensive defender, who lived in the shadows in the back row at EV Landshut, to a brave, top-class, impulsive runner who discovered the offensive for himself. "For me, time was a blessing," he says, "I've learned a lot."

Of course the SCR had tried to keep hot. But Christakakis quickly realized that there was nothing to be done. The player also says: "I wanted to take the next step now." It is not yet certain when he will leave for Dresden. "With Corona everything is a bit unclear." He expects August 1st at the latest. Then it's off to Saxony.
