Munich (AP) - Uli Hoeneß used the time during the coronavirus pandemic for a lot of sport and working together with his wife Susanne.
"My wife and I were very disciplined. I lost eight kilos," said the 68-year-old on FC Bayern Basketball's YouTube channel. "We have brought our garden into shape, it is a small federal garden show now, we have repainted our terrace."
The club's honorary president spoke on the occasion of the start of the basketball Bundesliga championship tournament in Munich on Saturday. "We didn't actually miss that much," he said of the peak phase of contact restrictions due to the pandemic. "We didn't fully understand this eternal lament in our country. Okay, we have a nice house with a large garden." His wife and he would not have seen the grandchildren for weeks, but tried to make the best of the "difficult situation".
