Berlin (dpa) - According to Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU), there could again be games in front of spectators in the new season of the Bundesliga.
In an interview for the newspapers of the Funke media group, Seehofer stated that he initially expected the number of viewers to be reduced. However, the current season should only be played to the end.
"I already have the confidence in my heart that we will be able to gradually allow the audience back into the new season. Not immediately, not like before the Corona outbreak, but with fewer spectators and so that the distances between the stadium visitors are kept" said Seehofer. "As in other areas, we will find clever solutions here that combine joie de vivre and protection against infection," added the Federal Minister of the Interior.
Since the restart of the Bundesliga as well as the 2nd and 3rd leagues, all games have taken place in front of empty ranks. Recently there had been several votes from the Bundesliga for relaxing the strict hygiene concept on which the approval for the continuation of the current Bundesliga season was based.
