Landkreis - Now it is official: The 2020/21 football season in the adult sector of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) will be the same for both men and women. The solution working group (LAG) set up by the BFV because of the pandemic interruption of the 2019/20 season came to this decision unanimously, because due to the already decided extension of the current round, which is to be continued after September 1, the time frame for the following season was too tight. As a result of the LAG consultations by BFV game leaders and over 30 club representatives from all levels, the proposal was to extend the 2019/20 season to June 30, 2021. The BFV board has already confirmed this proposal. The BFV hopes to cancel a complete game year in several ways, or better: avoiding significant problems. Usually it can be played until mid-November due to the weather. Since there are still between ten and 17 regular game dates in the adult division in the various leagues, as well as placement and decision-making matches as well as cup duels, several English weeks would be indispensable within a narrow framework. However, due to the professional situation of amateur footballers, these can hardly be pulled through. In addition, many clubs do not have a floodlight that is absolutely essential in the fall. "Even if we decide to go through a season with several weekdays and evenings until December, the season finals and necessary decision-making games would have to be played at the end of November or beginning of December at the uncomfortable time for the spectators," said association game director Josef Janker Problem on. "There is also the great danger that the season will not end due to weather-related cancellations." With the extension of the current season, the BFV is also gaining flexibility with regard to the course of the pandemic. Because it is still not certain whether it will be possible to play in September or if the season should be interrupted again, for example because of a second corona wave. Accordingly, the club representatives also welcome the suggestion: “It is only logical that the next season will be canceled. It is simply not possible to schedule an additional game round. And that now also gives planning security. If we couldn't start in September, it would be later again, ”says Bertl Fürst, team manager of the district league leader TSV Brunnthal.

Jochen Joppa, spokesman for the fifth division of the TSV Grünwald, also finds the BFV decision "correct, because it is not possible to schedule otherwise."

Although not a friend of the season extension, Franz Perneker, manager of Bayernliga third FC Deisenhofen, is completely in agreement with the BFV decision. This was logical and therefore he was surprised by the criticism of those who had voted against a termination: “I do not understand the outcry on social media. It was completely clear that the season 20/21 could not take place if this season continued. I appreciate that the decision is now official, but I still think that the season should have been stopped. ”

Incidentally, all three club representatives are not worried about the continuity of their teams. “We don't have any problems with players and coaches. I don't know of anyone who wants to leave. There are even those who want to come, ”says Joppa. Fürst sees the "team cohesion so great that I do not think that players want to change." The FCD stands for unusual squad resistance anyway. “We have already had talks for the 20/21 season and most of the players remain. I think the transfer market will be relatively quiet this year, even if there may of course be a few crazy people who want to thrive and spoil themselves and then spend a few euros in their hands, ”said Perneker, who is due to the good FCD youth work "More of a problem with the youngsters we want to raise," sees. These should be patient, because the FCD as a club would be loyal to all players and not give anyone the pass. So there are hardly any squad vacancies.

Fürst, Joppa and Perneker are positive that the BFV wants to launch an additional program. "Twelve, 13 games in a year have a limited appeal in team sport, which is why the association is obliged to offer something in the spring," said Perneker, "preferably with a local character, for example a 'Hachinger Valley Cup'. "However, he points out that possible tournament derbies, for example between Deisenhofen and Taufkirchen, cannot replace the league competition:" Ultimately, they are just friendlies.
