Now it's official: There will be no 2020/21 season in Bavarian amateur football. The board of the Bavarian Football Association has confirmed a proposal by the solution working group (LAG) "Match operation league and cup adults".

District - There is a new general calendar for the currently interrupted 2019/20 season in Bavaria. In numerous LAG rounds, the game directors of the Bavarian Football Association, together with more than 30 club representatives from all levels, proposed to extend the 2019/2020 game year until June 30, 2021. The BFV board has already confirmed this proposal. This means that there will be no 2020/21 season.

"It is actually only logical. It would have been very difficult to pull off a new season reasonably well, ”says Wolfgang Krebs, coach of the district league team MTV Berg. His team still has ten games to complete. These should now be distributed fairly evenly over this year's autumn and spring next year.

The first possible weekend in the calendar is the first weekend in September. However, due to the applicable distance rules, it currently seems unlikely that the ball will actually roll again. "I don't think we will play anymore this year," commented Peter Schmidt, TSV Gilching-Argelsried coach. He believes it is more likely that the national league team will only be able to play their remaining eleven matches in March. "It would be strange for me otherwise. School sport doesn't seem to take place this year either, ”says Schmidt. He sees a great danger in the direction of football. "I do not hope that the players will wear and tear through the whole back and forth," says Schmidt. He is also surprised that the BFV did not follow the example of the other football associations in Germany (except for Thuringia) and ended the season. “I had to find once again that the clocks in Bavaria obviously tick differently. I noticed that during my studies, ”says Schmidt.

Christoph Kammerlander is happy that there will be no shortened 2020/21 season. “In my opinion, that would have been total nonsense,” says the coach of the TSV Perchting-Hadorf district classics. He hopes that normal team training will be possible again soon. “I believe that the low infection numbers should allow this. We also play outside and not inside, ”says Kammerlander. However, he also admits: "I don't want to be a politician who has to decide that."

Franco Simon is not very enthusiastic that the season should drag on in less than a year. "I would have ended the season and started again in the fall," says the SC Pöcking-Possenhofen coach. His colleague Bernd Öhler is also not convinced. "I'm afraid that especially older players will lose motivation and will simply stop now," said the coach of the A-Classist TSV Erling-Andechs. Thomas Dötsch sees it differently. "We now have plenty of time to finish the season," said the head of the TSV Oberalting-Seefeld club.

If there is still time in the schedule until mid-2021, the association would like to offer its clubs attractive additional competitions. “This could be a modified cup competition with group games, for example, or a kind of play-off round. The LAG will now be dealing with models such as these, ”reports Jürgen Faltenbacher. “Mind games are allowed in any direction and expressly desired. Different variants can be developed precisely according to the number of different game days still available in the respective regions, ”continues the BFV treasurer. Erling's trainer Öhler comments on this proposal as follows: “I don't think it will add value. But maybe I have to change my mind. "
